Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme Cereal Review & Giveaway

“Disclosure: The information and prize pack have been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.

This review definitely brought me back to the good ole' days!  I remember eating yummy (might as well call it dessert) cereals for breakfast almost every morning when I was a kid. That is what I was expecting with the Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme cereal.  One of the things that TOTALLY surprised me is that Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme cereal only has 9 g of sugar per serving, which is the same as a different "healthy" cereal I'd been giving my kidlet many mornings.  Whoa!  I won't mention the name of the cereal, but if I had to choose between that cereal and sweet Cookies 'n' Creme bits, I'm going to go with Hershey's! Their Cookies 'n' Creme cereal is also a good source of Calcium, Vitamin D, and 10 other essential vitamins and minerals.  I'm thinking cereal has come a long way since I was a kid :)

While I can't with a good conscience tell you to feed your kid cookie cereal for breakfast most mornings, I can say that I think it's a great dessert alternative or a wonderful treat on special mornings.  And....General Mills and MyBlogSpark have graciously donated an extra prize pack just like the one I was given so you can try this cereal out for yourself.  This is a mad sweet prize pack! I LOVE the dispenser.  It's super fun for kids (and adults), and the cereal bowls for breakfast on the go are unique and fun too!  Overall, this has been one of my favorite giveaways to do on this blog because the prize pack was so fun, and I'm excited that one of you is going to win one!!!

I'm going to give Rafflecopter a go for the first time, so I hope this all works out okay :)  Thanks so much for entering and good luck!

Seventh Generation & The Lorax Review & Giveaway!

I recently received a package of Seventh Generation training pants and a copy of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax from MyBlogSpark to review.  I can also host a giveaway for a Seventh Generation diaper product and a copy of The Lorax for one reader, so read on to find out how to win!

We are almost finished with potty training, and I have to say, it is SO, SO nice!  We are down to one training pant/diaper per day, and we use that at night since my daughter is such a heavy sleeper that she has no clue when she needs to go to the bathroom.  I LOVE these Seventh Generation training pants.  They fit more snugly than other training pants, so they are more comfortable for my daughter to wear.  They also work extremely well.  They are so absorbent that I have a difficult time determining whether or not my daughter has even peed in them.  And as always, Seventh Generation products are better for the environment, which makes me feel good about using them.  These particular training pants have the Lorax on the front, and my daughter really, really loves them.  In fact, she puts them on without a fight, which is saying a lot for her since she's two and fights us on just about anything she can!

Here's some more helpful information about Seventh Generation Free & Clear diapers and training pants (and the Lorax scrapbook promotion):

  • NEW Overnight Diapers are absorbent enough to keep your baby and bedding dry through the night or during prolonged travel
  • Free & Clear diapers have improved more flexible tabs that provide even better fit
  • Free & Clear training pants have an absorbent core made with more renewable, plant-based materials.  They also feature stretchy, tear away side panels for a better fit and added convenience, as well as inner leak barriers for superior leakage protectio

  • Seventh Generation Free & Clear baby care products do not contain chlorine, fragrance, petroleum-based lotions or latex, and all Free & Clear products are also hypo-allergenic

  • Starting March 2, you can register for a free The Lorax scrapbook with the purchase of any three Free & Clear diaper products, until supplies last!!!

  • Seventh Generation and MyBlogSpark have offered me the opportunity to give away one package of Seventh Generation diaper product and a copy of The Lorax to a reader!  To enter, please do one of the following (or all if you like!):

    1.  Tell me - how many diapers or training pants does your child/children use per day? (1 entry)
    2.  Like Seventh Generation on Facebook (2 entries) - please comment twice for 2 entries
    3.  Follow Seventh Generation on Twitter (2 entries) - please comment twice for 2 entries

Keeping Your Family Cold and Flu Free!

    http://xinyun92.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/germs1.jpg

Our family had a really rough go of it last cold and flu season.  If my two-year-old wasn't sick, then I was sick or my husband was sick.  We seemed to keep passing things around to each other until I could hardly wait for spring/summer and the end of months of sickness!  This year, we decided we HAVE to be proactive because we can't handle another winter like the winter of 2010.  Here are some things we are resolved to do to keep our family cold and flu free this year:

    1) My husband and I will be getting the flu shot.  I am excited about this since they have the new shots that don't require needles.  I'm not a fan of needles, so I think this is an amazing new way to administer the flu vaccine.  I believe my daughter is still too young to get the shot, but even if she does get the flu, two healthy parents to take care of her is better than all 3 of us getting it at once.  What a nightmare when everyone in your house is sick at the same time!

    2) I will be routinely wiping down surfaces and anything that my daughter brings to school or outside the house with sanitizer.  I really love the Lysol two-sided wipes for our kitchen because I can scrub and it's disinfecting at the same time.  Keeping our surfaces free of germs is an important way to fend off colds and the flu.

    3) We've already started using hand sanitizers before and after we enter stores.  I find that we stay well longer when we wipe off carts before we use them and when we sanitize our hands before we leave the stores since we usually touch lots of surfaces during our shopping time.  I've even started carrying a small hand sanitizer with me to use if my daughter happens to touch anything that I think might have more germs on it than her immune system can deal with.  BUT...I am careful not to overdo it either.  I do want her to come in contact with some germs to build up her immune system.

    4)  We are going to be eating healthier and taking our vitamins! My husband and I have set aside extra money for fruits and veggies during the winter months because it's important to eat well to stay well.  We've also started to focus on taking vitamins to fill in what we might be lacking in our diets.

So, there you have it!  These are four steps we've taken to help our family stay cold and flu free this year.  We've got a long way to go, and I'm sure we'll come up with other ways to stay healthy as the months progess.  If you've got a tip on how you keep your family healthy, I'd love to hear it in the comments section!
